OBITUARY
MR. H. G, SHEPHERD
The funeral of Mr. Henry George (Harry) Shepherd, late of Mt. Nicholas, took place at Carr Villa cemetery on Monday. Rev. C. G. Williams, of St. Paul's Church of England, conducted the service at the graveside.
The chief mourners were Messrs. Harry (St. Marys), Arthur (of the 2/40th Battalion, A.I.F.) and Leslie Shepherd (Launceston), sons; Beatrice, May, Muriel and Sylvia, daughters; Messrs. James and George Shepherd (brother), Louisa (sister), Messrs. C. A. Tapp, A. Rushton (2/40th A.I.F.) and R. Deli (sons-in-law).
Among the floral tributes were those from the 2/40th Battalion, A.I.F., City Mission, J. and E. Brown, Befineworth Pharmacy.
Mr. Shepherd had lived in St. Marys district most of his life until recently, when he made, his home in Launceston.
In his earlier years Mr. Shepherd was keenly interested in most sports, particularly gun shooting, football, fishing and cricket. As a miner he saw much of the development of the industry. A widower for 16 years he leaves three sons-Harry (St. Marys), Arthur (2/40th Battalion, A.I.F.), Leslie (Launceston); and five daughters-Mesdames C. A. Tapp, A. Rushton, R. Dell, L. Quinn and Miss Sylvia Shepherd, all of Launceston.
