Theft Of Watch
In the Hobart Police Court yesterday, before the Rev. J. A. Cloudsdale and Mr. J. Swan, .Js.P., Detective-Inspector R. AV. Fleming prosecuting,
Mervyn Sydney Price (17), admitted having on January 2 stolen a watch valued at £10, the property of William Nash.
Constable Fletcher said that Nash had a room at Price's mother's' house. He missed the watch, and it was found In a second-hand shop.
Price's mother asked that he be given a chance.
Mr. Cloudsdale said Price had been before the Court several times before on similar charges. Last time he had been sentenced to imprisonment for three months. "A man like this should be flogged," he added.
Inspector Fleming,' said that if he thought Price would go straight he would ask that he be given a chance.
A fine of £2 was imposed, the Bench insisting that Price pay the fine, not his mother. Restitution of 6/ to the second-hand shop also was ordered.
