GLENROWAN OUTBREAK.

MANY SUFFERERS.

WANGARATTA, Wednesday. -The bush fire which originated at Glenrowan onMonday afternoon and swept the parish of Laceby on Tuesday, was gotunder control last night, and, as no further outbreak occurred to-day,the danger is now regarded as past. The fire extended over an area 20miles long by 10 miles wide, and, as the district is thickly settled,the sufferers are numerous. Only two unoccupied houses were burnt, andno stock was lost, but the losses in grain, grass, and fencing areheavy.

Ivan Polaski, a young Russian, who was arrested on a charge of havingcarelessly used fire, was brought before the Police Court on Monday,and remanded for a week. He was employed recently by Mrs. Prichard, ofGlenrowan, on whose property the fire originated.

The sufferers number about 60. They in- clude the following:
