TRUCK PLUNGES 200 FEETDOWN GULLY

WRECKAGE AMONG ROCKS

Marks That Led Over Edge of Road

APOLLO BAY, Wednesday - A man and a woman were killed when a motor-truck left the Skene's Creek road about eight miles from Apollo Baythis morning, and plunged 200ft, almost a sheer drop, to the bottom ofa gully The victims were KENNEDY JOHN, aged 56 years, married, ofApollo Bay, driver ot the truck POLASKI, EVA single, of Apollo Bay.

it Is not known how the accident occurred The truck, which was ownedby Sims Motors, apparently passed along the road about 6 30 thismorning When Mr Roy Jones, of Ash's Motor Service, and Mr Roy Haywarddrove round a sharp bend in the road about 8 o'clock, they saw motor tracks leading over the edge of the road.

They climbed down the gully and found the wreckage of the truck It had swerved from the road, dropped on to on old road a few feet below, and then plunged into the gully flour and pollard were strewn about the old road, and shattered pieces of the truck were scat tered among therocks into which it had crashed in its descent.

The battered chassis lay among rocks at the bottom of the drop, andKennedy's body lay beneath it. Miss Polaski' s body had been thrownome distance away. Both had suffered terrible head injuries, and apparently had been killed instantly.

Mr Kennedy was used to the mountain roads He was coach driver and mallcon- tractor for many years, and drove the first motor mail car to Apollo Bay. He leaves a widow and a grown-up family of three. Miss Polaski had lived at Apollo Bay for many years
