ELECTION OF DIRECTORS
OF THE LAUNCESTON AND WESTERN
RAILWAY COMPANY.
The first general meeting of the
Shareholders in tbe Launceston and
Western Railway Company was beld
in the class-room of the Mechanics,
Institute, on Monday, the 25th March,
for the purpose of electing permanent
Directors, and for general business.
There was a large number of share
holders present, amongst whom were -

On the motion of Mr Wm Archer,
Mr W. S. Button took the chair.
After some discussion respecting tbe
legality ot the proceedings and the
formality of tbe deed of association,
Messrs Wm. Hart and Jobn Murpby
were appointed scrutineers, and at half
past six o'clock in the evening the
Chairman read the result, as follows: -

mentioned fifteen gentlemen elected as
Directors of the Launceston and Western Railway Company.
The first meeting of tbe Directors
was held at the Company's office,
Brisbane street, on tbe 28th March.
The whole ot the fifteen Directors were
present. Mr W. S. Button consented
to act as Chairman of the Board for
six months, during the preparation for
calling for tenders. Mr Dowling
offered his gratuitous services as Hon.
Secretary; and Mr Robertson as
Honorary Treasurer, until the Company
selected their banker. Mr Norwood
was appointed Secretary for six months
at a salary of £130. The Directors
give their services without fees. Messrs
Douglas and Collins were confirmed as
Solicitors to the Company, with Mr
Dobson as Standing Counsel
