Harry was born in Campbell St in Parramatta. He went to Our Lady ofMercy College. He walked to and from school each day. He had to callinto his fathers saddlery every afternoon so that he didn't cross theweir which is still there. This shop was approx where there is a slowpoint in the road (1999) on the Liverpool side of the River and theSydney side of the street. St John's Cathedral Park, where he sat fora couple of hours to wag school. Unfortunately, his idea of time waspoor and he went home about 11 am to a poor reception.
He used to ask shopkeepers in Newtown if he could sweep their shopsfor 2/-
Harry worked for the Mater doing odd jobs around the various ButterflyTheatres. He put up the posters on the boards outside the theatres.Once at Liverpool, he deliberately put one section upside down toattract attention. A big wig from another theatre spotted this andoffered him a job.
Harry met Hazel sometime in 1935.
They had their honeymoon in Katoomba.
They purchased a 'convenience' store cnr Prince & Mary Sts. Lived onthe premises for about 18 months.
In 1940 He and Hazel moved to Manly where they lived in a flat withhis g'mother. Later the same year moved to Clifton Hall also in Manly.
1941 got position as asst mgr at Liberty Theatre in Sydney.
1942 called up into the Army.
1942 Hazel moved to Liverpool to live with her family while Harry away
1943 joined the RAAF
Hazel and John lived at 83 Addison Rd Manly
1945 Nov/Dec discharged from services.
1945 Dec returned to MGM
1946 moved back to Clifton Hall
1946 Tfred to Regal Theatre Bondi Junction
1948 Tfred to Minerva Theatre in Kings Cross
Moved to 25 Woolgoolga St Nth Balgowlah.
1949 tfred to St James Theatre in Sydney
1951 tfred to Metro Theatre in Manly
1958 Resigned from MGM to start in Real Estate in Carlingford
1960 Joined CML
1975 redundancy
1976 Moved to Valla to mind John's house while he and family went overseas.
1976 Purchased a home in Nambucca Heads
1977 Joined the liquor business
1980 retired from the liquor business
1980 Moved to Carindale in Brisbane.
1988 Australia Day Citizen Award for services to the community (StVincent De Paul Socy)
