OBITUARY
LATE MR. WALTER HONEY
THE FUNERAL.
The funeral of Mr. Waller M. Honey,
who died on Wednesday at his resi-
dence, 50 Colville Street, Battery Point, Hobart, at the age of 75 years, took place at Cornelian Bay Cemetery yesterday, and was largely attended.
Among those present were Mr. W. H. Calvert, M.L.C., Messrs. J. P. Piggott,
D'Arcy Addison,'T. Calvert, G. Lloyd,
A. Caddie, E. Hannaford, Lieut. T. W.Hopkins, and representatives of musical and other bodies. The chief mourners were Messrs. A. j. Honey, E. Thomas, J. Watson, C. Genge, and Max Honey.
The rector of St. George's (Rev. C C Short) conducted the service at the graveside, and paid a high tribute to the sterling qualities of deceased, who was the youngest son of Mr. James
Honey, who died at the age of 102. Mr. James Honey was the last survivor of the original staff of the Commissariat Department of the Imperial War Office in Australasia.
The late Mr. Walter Honey was chief clerk and cashier In the Taxation Department, to which he was attached for 35 years prior to his retirement some years ago. He was a leading authority on the early history of churches in Tasmania, having compiled data of practically every church in the State. He took a keen interest in military bands, and was associated with prominent musical organisations in his
younger days. His disposition was most genial, and he was always willing to assist in any worthy cause. He married Emily, a daughter of the late John
Watson, of York Grove, Sandford, who survives him.
Lieut. T. W. Hopkins sounded the "Last Post" at the graveside.
