Letter stored at Leicester Records Office. To Managers of Thurmaston School possibly in response to request for some sort of aid.
Dear Sir
I beg respectfully to acknowledge the receipt this morning of the very kind resolution of your school Managers. As an old scholar once the sport of his fellows for his ragged unmentionable, the result of boyish pranks and the loss of the dearest treasure known as a mother's care; it has believe me afforded a taste of real pleasure mixed with deep thankfulness to have been spared and permitted later in life to render the acknowledgement in return for benefits received from the old school. Please consider the matter as confidentially rendered and don't with all respect put me in your estimable Pillary of the Parish magazine.
Yours sincerely
J Getliffe.
