The following few words were written by Daphne in July 1997.

I was born at St Marys on the 24 December 1924. I went to school at St Marys until we moved to Launceston in 1935. When we first
moved to Launceston we lived with one of my aunties in Gleadow St. Dad still worked in the Jubilee Coal Mine at St Marys and rode
his bike to Launceston every weekend. Dad then found a job at the railway yards in Invermay. We then moved to Invermay Road.
After moving to Launceston I went to the Invermay State School for a few years before attending the Charles St State School for one year. We later moved to 34 Lindsay St Invermay as my grandmother (dad's mother) came to live with us. She stayed with us for a while and then she moved to Hobart to be with some of her children. We then moved to 19 George St for a short while. After George St we moved to 116 Wellington St where mum and dad were caretakers at the City Mission. We then had plenty of moves, one across
the road to 149 Wellington St and then to 175 Wellington St. When I left school I started work at Patons and Baldwins Wool Mill. I worked from at 6.00am until 2.00pm one week and from 2.00pm until 10.00pm the next week. During the 1937 depression mum and dad ran a City Mission soup kitchen for the needy in Dunning St Invermay. He (dad) collected soup bone from some butchers,
free of charge. Dad also provided porridge in the morning for the kids before school. During that time there was an accident one morning in which a kettle of boiling water fell on the wood fire and of course I was the only one to get my feet scalded. I was
about 17 at the time. I had to have a toe amputated.
That's the reason you think I am "not all there". By this time we had moved again to 102 Balfour St. In about 1944 my auntie
got me to write to her brother, Hobart Price. As a result we were married in 1946 in Ballarat. After about 17 months pregnancy we had our first child.

We then came home to live with mum and dad, as we could not get a house for about nine years. When we came home dad was working as a Wards man at the Launceston General Hospital. Between those years my sons, Ross and Craig came along. When we did find a place of our own we moved fairly quickly. We had a house at 111 Bathurst St Launceston.
I went back to work for awhile at Patons and Baldwins. I then commenced work at Harper's Bakery in Wellington St, serving in the milk bar and bake house. I also did the Housework in the residence, which was attached of the shop. I worked there from 1956 until 1979. By this time we had sold our house to Rolf Vos Supermarkets and moved to 2 McHugh St Kings Meadows. The
house was demolished and turned into a car park for the supermarket. We will live there until we move up the road to Carr Villa. (Cemetery)
