Robert Byers arrived in Sydney as a free settler with his mother Martha, and step father John Woods, and his siblings on August 12, 1838. Robert was 18 at the time.
On March 3rd, 1844, Robert was arrested for having in his possession a mare and foal that he could not give proof that he owned. He was tried on March 25th 1844 before Mr Justice Stephens of the Bathurst Circuit Court.
