St. Marys
On Saturday a fair was held in aid of the St. Marys state school funds, and proved highly successful. The weather was Infavourable, a gale of wind blowing all day. The various stalls were nicely decorated, and a lot of excellent
goods displayed for sale. The fair was opened at 3 p.m. by Mr. F. Salter, who paid a tribute to the school for the patriotic work it did during the war, and mentioned that this wus the first appeal for funds it had made for over five years. The buying throughout the afternoon was 'brisk, and continued so during the evening, when the hall was crowded. Various games of skill were introduced, and a very creditable acrobatic performance given by Master Aubrey Tapp. Some of the ladies proved adepts at nail-driving, and aljo showed considerable skill at the shooting gallery. The proceeds amounted to over £3O0. During the evening Mr. A.U. Barker thanked the various stall-holders, who had worked so harmoniously and successfully, and the parents and the public, for their splendid support.
