CITY MISSIONARY FAREWELLED
Occasion was taken at the break-up party of the Launceston City Mission Women's meeting to farewell the City Missionary (Mr. Alex Menzies) and Mrs. Menzies, who will shortly leave the city after seven years' work in the mission. Presentations of a utility set, glassware and posy were made to Mrs. Menzies by Mesdames V. B. Ratcliff and P. C. Bennett, on behalf of the Inveresk and Wellington-street branches. Rev. P. C. Bennett and Mr. V. B. Ratcliff presented Mr. Menzies with fountain pen and book.
About 40 people attended and a programme of games, vocal solos and community singing was enjoyed. Later in the evening a visit was paid by' Father Christmas (Mr. F. T. Clements) and each mother and visitor received a gift. Among the guests were Mrs. R. Ferrall, Messrs. C. A. Tapp, C. Tennant and G. Beatty.
The tea was organised by Mesdames C. A. Tapp, W. Moss, E. C. Miller and G. Wilson. Mrs. R. Thompson was at the organ.
