Good Start
FOR the opening of its 1949 road. season the Launceston Amateur Cycling Club had two excellent fields last Saturday.
Fourteen, including Hobart scratch men, Vern and Alan Tapp, contested the senior 10 miles event, while the junior five miles race attracted a field of 12. Brilliant team work by the Tapp brothers enabled Alan to register fastest time. The juniors impressed; at least five on various marks being within 15 seconds of time honours. Several new riders have advised the club that they will be competing in future events. Last year the L.A.C.C. staged 176 races, including 102 combined (juniors and seniors) events. It was a record year in every respect.
