O'Brien's Bridge is at Moonah, maybe fifty feet from Creek Road, and spanning the Lenah Valley Creek, which flows from Mt. Wellington, on the Main Road about 3 and a 1/2 kms, from Hobart. The sandstone arch is no
longer visible from the road but it is in full view from a cycle track that follows the river down to the New Town High School and Cornelian Bay.
The Bridge was named after Thomas O'Brien, a Norfolk Islander, who was a marine in the First Fleet, who married Susannah Mortimore, and was granted
69 acres in the area of Glenorchy. He gave the land upon which the bridge was built.
The bridge was on the corner of his property, and can be seen (with plaque attached) near Northgate Shopping Centre at Glenorchy.
