Five Decrees Nisi Granted
Five decrees nisi were granted and a decree nisi was made absolute by the Chief Justice (Sir Herbert Nicholls) in the Divorce Court at Hobart yesterday morning.
Trevor Tasman Langford, who was represented by Mr. C. Chant, sought a dissolution of his marriage with Ellen Hannah Langford on the grounds of desertion. The petitioner said that he was married in Melbourne In December, 1918. Subsequently he and his wife come to Hobart to reside. They were quite happy for the first 12 months, and then the respondent made frequent visits to Melbourne. On one occasion she said she was going for a week, but she stayed away for months. Some- times she went without witness' consent. In 1928 respondent went to Melbourne, and she was away for five years before he could induce her to return. During that time he went to Melbourne to see their two children. On several occasions he had sent her money to come home, but she had not done so. When respondent returned after her stay of five years In Melbourne she said that she would continue living with him, but she stayed for only a fortnight, and then left, without telling him, and taking the children with her. He had not heard of her since, nor did he know where she was. He had always treated her properly, and had handed over all his wages to her when she Was living with him. He had had good jobs, and for 12 months had earned £7 a week. He then found that he had bills every-where.
A decree nisi was granted.
