Her married name was Hodgetts. Janetta Wheeler was born on 24 June 1858 at Van Diemen's Land, Australia, Birth certificate no. 1378.¹ She married Edward Hodgetts, son of James Hodgetts and Mary Fagan, on 26 October 1875 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Cressy, Tasmania, Australia.² Janetta Wheeler married Ernest Thomas Hodgetts, son of Richard Hodgetts and Louisa Wadley, circa 1887; Some time in the late 1880's, Ernest Thomas and Janetta Hodgetts nee Wheeler ran away to Melbourne. Janetta was the wife of Ernest's cousin Edward Hodgetts.They always maintained that they were married, but this was impossible, as Janetta was still married to Edward. Janetta Wheeler died on 8 April 1940 at Benevolent Asylum, Cheltenham, Victoria, Australia, at age 81. She was buried on 10 April 1940 at Preston, Victoria, Australia.
