On 9 March 1848 he was found guilty of disobeying a direct order and was given another 1 month prison and hard labour.
John applied for a ticket of leave on 23 September 1851 but was refused.
He reapplied on 11 October 1853 but was told to reapply in 12 months.
This ticket was granted on 15 August 1854 and a conditional pardon was issued on 28 August 1855. He married Mary Ann Jones, daughter of Convict George Jones and Convict Susan Jasper Featherstone, on 16 July 1857 at St. Andrew's Church and Manse, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia,Mary Ann's age was stated as being under 21 years upon their marriage, which was conducted according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Church of Scotland.
The witnesses at the wedding were Stephen and Ellen BAREHAM. Convict John Double died on 8 December 1882 at Native Corners, Tasmania, Australia.
