     William Stammers Button was born on 16 November 1795 at Nayland, Suffolk, England. He married Marianne Lloyd in 1826; Settled in Long Melford. Celebrated their Golden Wedding in Launceston just months before William died. William Stammers Button was the First Mayor of Launceston.
He filled the office by successive elections for four years, and during his mayoralty the chief portion of the work was done in supplying the town with water-

Chief member of Anti-Transportation League in 1851 at Launceston, Van Diemen's Land, Australia. He died on 17 September 1876 at 128 St John Street, Launceston, Tasmania, Australia, at age 80 ( his residence. ) He was buried on 19 September 1876.

     Her married name was Button. Marianne Lloyd was born on 3 October 1799 at St. Martin Orgar, London, England, Father # William Lloyd; Mother # Susan Jane Condor. She married William Stammers Button, son of Nathaniel Boosey Button and Hannah Stammers, in 1826; Settled in Long Melford. Celebrated their Golden Wedding in Launceston just months before William died. Marianne Lloyd died on 19 July 1880 at Tasmania, Australia, at age 80.

He married Frances Kate Marianne Button, daughter of William Barnard Button and Elizabeth Weavers, on 27 October 1881 at Adaville Farm, River Leven, Tasmania, Australia; the residence of the bride's father. Thomas Oswin Button died on 6 July 1923 at Gravelly Beach, Tasmania, Australia, at age 73 SUDDEN DEATH AT GRAVELLY BEACH. Thomas Unwin Button 74 years of age,died suddenly at his residence Gravelly Beach, near Launceston,yesterday Dr Camm, of Launceston, was sent for and on his arrivalpronounced life extinct.
