He served in Australian Imperial Force, 5th Infantry Battalion, between 1914 and 1917 Private 632. He died on 6 May 1917 at Hem-Lenglet, France, at age 20 Died of wounds. He was buried on 7 May 1917 at Hem-Lenglet Cemetery, France.1
