Convict Nathaniel Lucas was born in 1764 at Kingston, Surrey, England. He was convicted on 7 July 1784 at The Old Bailey, London, England,
Nathaniel Lucas was born in Kingston, Surrey, England, about 1764. His father was William John Lucas, a builder of Thames Ditton, Surrey, his mother was Mary nee Bradford.
Nothing is known of Nathaniel's early life, except that he followed in his father's footsteps, taking up the trade of Carpenter and Joiner, and later becoming a builder.
His story commences when he is twenty years of age. At this time he was living in a public house in Red Lion Street, Holburn, London. On Wednesday 7th July 1784, Nathaniel was tried before Mr. Rose at Justice hall in the Old Bailey and convicted of feloniously stealing clothing, the value of which was £ 2-0-0 ($ 4-00). This being the property of his neighbour Mary Davis, a spinster.
Sentenced to transportation for seven years, Nathaniel was to spend some time in a prison hulk anchored in the Thames. On the 13th of May 1787 he left Portsmouth aboard the "Scarborough" one of the transport ships of the First Fleet, bound for Botany Bay, New South Wales. Aboard another ship in the fleet the "Lady Penryhn" was Olivia Gascoigne, who was destined to become Nathaniel's wife. He was transported on 13 May 1787 from on the convict transport ship 'Scarborough' from Portsmouth, England to Botany Bay, New South Wales, Australia

Nathaniel Lucas Nathaniel and his brother William erected a mill at Launceston.They also entered into a contract to enlarge and refit an old building at Launceston for a church for £124 or build a new one for £200.They also built the goal at Launceston. He was born on 1 August 1793 at Norfolk Island. He When his family moved to Sydney in 1805 he was 11½ years old and worked with his father as a carpenter at Sydney and Liverpool. in 1805 at Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He married Sarah Stone on 30 June 1814 at St Phillip's Church of England, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Nathaniel Lucas advertised in the Sydney Gazette that he was leaving for Port Dalrymple on the 13th January 1816, and he also advertised his house for sale. Nathaniel was a traveler and commuted between Tasmania and Sydney frequently. on 13 January 1816. He After the death of his father in 1818, he arrived in Sydney to accompany his mother and all her younger children to Launceston, aboard the Schooner “John Palmer”.
