He was Convicted for larceny, sentence 7 yrs Type: Conviction & Transportation in 1836 at Essex, England. He lived on 3 January 1837 at Essex, England. He was Transported on 29 July 1837 from Portsmouth, England to Norfolk Island. Norfolk Island to Van Diemen's Land, Australia. He was in November 1837 at Van Diemen's Land, Australia, after Norfolk Island assigned to James Lucas.1 He married Olivia Lucas, daughter of James Lucas and Elizabeth Murray, on 3 February 1842 at Evandale, Van Diemen's Land, Australia. Convict Richard Reed departed an unknown place after wife Olivia's death in 1852, along with members of his family he moved to the Goldfields of Victoria. He died on 24 September 1883 at Main Road, Snake Valley, Carngham, Victoria, Australia.2

Caroline Reeves

     Caroline Reeves died at Wateringbury, Kent, England. She According to a letter written by Violet Spain (Smith) to Irene Bonney, Caroline died of pneumonia about two weeks after the birth of Caroline Julia. C.J. was adopted shortly afterwards but her name was never changed. Since Violet was in her 80's at this time she may have confused this about Caroline Horton with that of Marguerita E.A. Henry the wife of William Charles. Otherwise the birth of William Charles is wrong. Violet also says Caroline Julia had only one brother, but Samuel Faggis onthe IGI.
Caroline's maiden name may have been Reeves. Her married name was Horton. She was born in 1842. She married Samuel Fagge Horton, son of William Horton and (?) Hannah, between 1859 and 1891.
