Joseph Barwick

     Joseph Barwick was was a brewer. Joseph and Ann, with their four youngest children - William - Stephen - Elizabeth and Andrew, left London on the "James" on 3 October 1840 and arrived in Hobart on 15 February 1841. They settled at :Copmanhurst" Oatlands where Joseph was a brewer.
Their two eldest sons - Edward and Joseph, had arrived in Tasmania in 1837 on the "William Metcalfe" and had established themselves and their families at Oatlands. Their son Richard and his family came out in 1854 on the "Northumberland" followed two years later by Thomas and his family on the "Sir W.F. Williams".
James and his family decided to go to N.S.W. in 1840 and they settled at Uralla where James took up farming. John remained in England. He was baptized on 23 April 1783 at Woburn, Bedfordshire, England. He married Anne Graves, daughter of Thomas Graves and Elizabeth Shelvey, on 10 September 1806 at St. Martin's Church, Great Monegham, Kent, England. Joseph Barwick arrived at on the ship 'James' on 15 February 1841 in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. He died on 3 July 1863 at Great Mongeham, Oatlands, Tasmania, Australia, at age 80. He was buried circa 5 July 1863 at Oatlands Cemetery, Oatlands, Tasmania, Australia.
