     Clara Elizabeth Saltmarsh Clara was the daughter of Emma Saltmarsh, father unknown, and was reared by her grand-parents John & Elizabeth Saltmarsh. They had a large family of 15 children and Clara had aunts & an uncle younger than herself so it was quite easy for her to be accepted as another child of John & Elizabeth. Emma, her mother, was the eldest child of this family so no doubt she had to help her mother bring up the younger children anyway.

Clara was living at Ringarooma when she married and this is where her mother Emma lived after she married Joseph TORLEY.

At her Golden Wedding celebration she talked about her wedding day. She was married at the new Methodist Church at DERBY. She was given away by her husband's cousin Mr Sam Diprose, Mr Charles Diprose was best man, Miss Annie Diprose was bridesmaid, and the wedding breakfast was held at the home of Mr Edgar Diprose. The wedding cake was made in a campoven. They walked through the snow to the Church and she wore a dress of pink & grey satin with a tight-fitting bodice and a very fullskirt, 'bustled' at the back. She had a tulle veil and orange blossom and carried a bouquet. She weighed 7 stone at the time and wore a size 2 shoe and measured 19 inches around the waist. (She still has herwedding frock 50 years later and not one of her grand-daughters can fiti nto it). The married couple started their life together then moved to YOLLA in a Bullock Dray. They lived in a two-roomed shanty while the land was cleared and (knownas Gran) bought comfort to families when help was needed. She was an active member of the Country Women's Association & Red Cross. Clara was presented with a medal from the Red Cross Society in recognition of her work during the 'Great War'. She walked and drove for miles getting items for the parcels for the boys serving at the Front.

In the Yolla Cemetery record book her death is recorded as 'Gran' Neal (Clara) aged 84 years 17th June 1950. There is a story that she had an aversion to the Cemetery and requested the undertaker not to take her there when she died, however, he assured her that he had never had received one complaint! Her married name was Neal. She was born on 11 July 1866 at Tasmania, Australia. She married Herbert Daniel Neal, son of Daniel Neal and Emma Jane French, on 30 July 1888 at Derby, Tasmania, Australia. Clara Elizabeth Saltmarsh died on 17 June 1950 at Yolla, Tasmania, Australia, at age 83. She was buried on 19 June 1950 at Wynyard, Tasmania, Australia.

     Clarence Saltmarsh was born on 19 December 1893 at Tasmania, Australia. He died on 8 June 1915 at Tasmania, Australia, at age 21. He was buried on 8 June 1915 at Christ Church Cemetery, Wellington Street, Longford, Tasmania, Australia.

     Colin William Saltmarsh was born on 17 October 1928 at Tasmania, Australia. He was buried in July 1930 at Christ Church Cemetery, Wellington Street, Longford, Tasmania, Australia. He died on 5 July 1930 at Tasmania, Australia, at age 1.

     Douglas Vernon Saltmarsh was born on 30 December 1893 at Tasmania, Australia. He married Dora Madge Hodgetts, daughter of Henry Hodgetts and Isabella Susanna Keating, on 21 October 1925 at Cressy, Tasmania, Australia. Douglas Vernon Saltmarsh was buried in February 1977 at Cressy, Tasmania, Australia. He died on 20 February 1977 at Tasmania, Australia, at age 83.

     Dulcie Saltmarsh was born in 1918 at Tasmania, Australia. She died in 1979 at Tasmania, Australia.

     Her married name was Bird. Edith Sarah Saltmarsh was born on 29 August 1870 at Tasmania, Australia. She married William George Bird, son of James Bird, on 20 March 1889 at Tasmania, Australia. Edith Sarah Saltmarsh died on 11 September 1898 at Launceston General Hospital, Charles Street, Tasmania, Australia, at age 28 Examiner 'Edith Sarah Bird died, relict of the late William Bird, and youngest daughter of the late John Saltmarsh, aged 28 years, at the General Hospital, Launceston.

     Eileen Jessie Saltmarsh was born in 1906 at Tasmania, Australia.

She married James Charles Price on 30 March 1910 at Tasmania, Australia. Fanny Frances Saltmarsh died on 16 September 1980 at Tasmania, Australia, at age 92. She was buried circa 18 September 1980 at Christ Church Cemetery, Wellington Street, Longford, Tasmania, Australia.

     Her married name was Davis. Florence Kate Saltmarsh was born on 3 June 1884 at Tasmania, Australia.
