William Standley was born in 1752 at England. He served in on the convict transport ship 'HMS Sirius' between 1787 and 1791 as a member of the 5th Portsmouth Company. He left a will on 13 August 1788; Transcription of text in document
In the name of God Amen I William Standley, Private Marine on board His Majesty's Ship Sirus. No. on the Marine List, 7, being in bodily health and of sound and disposing mind and memory, and considering the Perils and Dangers of the Seas and other uncertainties of this transitory Life. I do for avoiding controversies after my decease I make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner following (that is to say). First I recommend my Soul to God that gave it, and my body I commit to the Earth or Sea, as it shall please God to Order, and as for and concerning my worldly Estate, I bequeath and dispose there of as followeth. That this is to say, all things such as Wages, Sum and Sums of money whatsoever as shall be anywise due, owing or belonging to me at the time of my decease, for my service on board His Majesty's Ship Sirus, I do give desire and bequeath the same unto my beloved friend James Williams Private Marine on board His Majesty's said Ship. And I do hereby nominate and appoint the said James Williams the sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament. Hereby revoking all former and other Wills, Testaments and Deeds of Gifts, by me at any time heretofore made. And I do Ordain and Ratify those persons to stand and be for, and as my only Last Will of Testament, Revocable for me and in my Name.... He married Convict Mary Ann Anstey on 5 November 1791 at Norfolk Island. William Standley arrived at Van Diemen's Land, Australia, on 1 March 1808. He died on 26 February 1830 at Compton Ferry, Derwent River, Hobart, Van Diemen's land, Australia.

Jane Stanley married Charles Riley on 1 January 1860 at Australia. Jane Stanley died on 23 March 1909 at Korrumburra, Victoria, Australia, at age 82.
