John Thomas Collicott was born on 23 September 1798 at St Pancras, London, England. He was christened on 1 April 1799. He was christened on 12 April 1804. He departed on the convict transport ship 'Mary Ann' from England for Australia with his 2 sisters Eliza and Mary, stepmother and step brothers and sisters on 26 July 1815. He was He was an original member of the Port Phillip Association formed in1835 to develop new land on the Mainland, hence development of Melbourne. in 1835 at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. He died on 3 July 1840 at Van Diemen's Land, Australia, at age 41. He was buried circa 5 July 1840 at St David's Cemetery, Hobart, Van Diemen's Land, Australia, among the large gathering at the graveside in old St. David'sCemetery, Hobart, was Sir John Franklin, Governor of Tasmania, apersonal friend. A monument was erected by fellow members of the UnionClub.

On Saturday evening, December 4, a wedding took place at the residence of Mr. Philip Harper, of Corney Town, Lithgow, the Rev. J. Oliver Dick, of St. Mary's Presbyterian Church, Lithgow, solemnising the marriage of Alice Florence Smith, youngest daughter of the late Mr. Andrew Smith, of Corrimal, South Coast, and adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Harper, of Corney Town, with Mr. George Edward Collidge, late of Hobart, Tasmania. The bride wore white silk, and a tulle veil and coronet of orange blossoms. An engraved ring and her shower bouquet wore gifts from the bridegroom. The bridesmaids were Miss Mabel Sarah and Miss Grace Queanbeyan Morris. Mr. James Jones acted as best man. After the ceremony a wedding tea was held.1

He died on 7 December 1928 at Repatriation Hospital, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, at age 57. He was buried circa 8 December 1928 at Cornelian Bay Cemetery and Crematorium, Tasmania, Australia.
