Jemima Cracknell was born on 22 May 1860 at Runneymede Street, Battery Point, Tasmania, Australia, William and Ann’s daughter Jemima, who came after Adolphus, was born when the family lived in Runnymede Street, Battery Point, possibly while William was still whaling. However the family lived in Napoleon Street Battery Point as well.

Jemima's birth is recorded in the Mercury Newspaper 14 June 1860.¹ She lived in 1861 at Runneymede Street, Battery Point, Tasmania, Australia. She married William Benjamin Lewis, son of John Benjamin Lewis Schrader and Mary Ann Cracknell, on 1 August 1888 at St. George's Church, Tasmania, Australia; William Benjamin LEWIS and Jemima CRACKNELL were first cousins. Jemima Cracknell died on 3 November 1948 at The Royal Hobart Hospital, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, at age 88 Jemima died in the Royal Hobart Hospital 3 days after her son, Eric. Eric drowned at Dunalley.

' -LEWIS- passed away on November 2 1948, at Royal Hobart Hospital, Jemima Lewis, beloved wife of the late William Lewis, youngest daughter of the late Captain Cracknell and living mother of Maud (Mrs C. Gorringe, Sandfly) Jean ( Mrs M. Atkinson, Goulbourne St) Roy (5 Church St) and Eric-(deceased). In her 89th year. (Baroness by right of merits.) Rock of Ages. Private funeral leaving our parlours Friday (Tomorrow) at 2.45pm. Letters of condolence to Mrs. C. Gorringe (Sandfly) and Mr.R. Lewis (5 Church St). North Hobart)
