William Dalrymple Keating was born on 11 November 1804 at Port Dalrymple, Van Diemen's Land, Australia, he was the first white child born in Northern Van Diemen's Land, he was born the day the first settlers landed from the 'Buffalo'. He married Elizabeth Aldgate on 16 March 1824 at St. John's Anglican Church, St John Street, Launceston, Van Diemen's Land, Australia. William Dalrymple Keating married Hannah Hodgetts, daughter of John Hodgetts and Olivia Lucas, on 9 April 1829 at St. John's Anglican Church, St John Street, Launceston, Van Diemen's Land, Australia. William Dalrymple Keating died on 11 August 1884 at Melton, Victoria, Australia, at age 79. He was buried on 13 August 1884 at Woodend, Victoria, Australia.

Surgeons report quiet”. He was definitely transported on the Eden, on her maiden voyage, which left Portsmouth on the 31st August 1836 and arrived at Hobart, on the on 22nd December, 1836. Details of his appropriation in Tasmania: “Tasks - plough, reap, and mow. Height 5’ 4”. Appropriated to Mr Richard White - Police Launceston”. He got his ticket of leave on 12/1/41. He returned to England as a free man on 26/9/1846, some 3 years after the end of his sentence, on the brig 'Union'. He lived on 6 January 1836 at Norfolk, England. He lived on 9 February 1836 at Leviathan, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England; No.2110 - Jonas Cable age 35, stole Various Articlues - UK, PrisonHulk Registers and Letter Books, 1802-1849.
