On Friday the 3rd an inquest was held at Hospital Bay, in the Huon, by Stanley Tomlins, Esquire, on the body of George Price, who fell dead instantaneously while working as a pit man in a saw pit. Verdict- died of osification of the heart. He was buried circa 3 January 1851 at Woodbridge Cemetery, Woodbridge, Van Diemen's Land, Australia.

     George James Price was born on 19 October 1844 at 110 New Town Road, New Town, Van Diemen's Land, Australia, At the time of his birth his parents resided in Argyle St Hobart.¹ He was baptized after 19 October 1844 at Holy Trinity Church of England, 50 Warwick Street, Hobart, Van Diemen's Land, Australia. He was the son of George Price and Convict Elizabeth Lomas. George James Price married Rachel Elizabeth Collier- Smith, daughter of Convict Henry William Collier and Elizabeth Smith, on 21 March 1866 at In the Public School Room, Woodbridge, Tasmania, Australia. George James Price lived circa 1930 at Woodbridge, Tasmania, Australia. He was George owned timber mills in the Eaglehawk Neck, Dover area. He was also a carpenter, as was his father. He built many houses in the Huon Area and the Tasman Peninsula. One house he built still stands in Martins Road Woodbridge.

He was also a Sawyer, Fruit Grower, Timber worker.

For some reason George left Woodbridge and took to selling vegetables from a cart around the city of Hobart. It is not known why he left Woodbridge or what became of his timber mills. Maybe he went broke and had to sell the mills. circa 1930 at Woodbridge, Tasmania, Australia. He died on 6 December 1932 at 33 Wentworth Street, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, at age 88 The medical attendant was Dr. W. L. Crowther. The cause of death is recorded as Diabetes. Mr. A. E. Richardson appeared for Ida Eliza Price, wife of George James Price, in a case concerning the payment of alimony.

On May 30, 1919, Price was granted a judicial separation from his wife, the Court making an order against him for the payment of alimony to the amount of 15s per week. He became a long way in arrears with the payments, and yesterday Mr. Richardson appeared for the wife on a judgment summons, and examined Price as to his means, earnings, and mode of living during the past six years.
Mr. E. J. O'Brien appeared for respondent, who said that his earnings were very little. He was not "making wages," and for the last five years had not earned a "man's wage." .
His Honor said he could make no order.

Hugh Herbert Price was On 16 December 1908 he was granted Marine Board of Hobart Certificate of Competency No 102 as Master, River or Harbour Trade. On 29th June1934 he was granted Pilotage Exemption Certificate No. 441 to navigate within the limits of the Port of Hobart. Also on 29 June1934 he was granted Marine Board of Hobart Certificate of competencyNo. 73 as Master Limited Coast Trade. in 1908 at Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. He lived in 1908 at 395 Brooker Avenue, Glenorchy, Tasmania, Australia; Hugh resided at resided at Woodbridge and later at 56 Molle St Hobart. At the time of his death he resided at 395 Brooker Highway Moonah with his wife Alberta and daughter Grace. It is not known if he resided at any other location between Woodbridge and Molle St, or between Molle St and Brooker Highway. He married Alberta Cordelia Lewis, daughter of Henry Lewis and Helen Alice Lee, on 30 December 1908 at St. John the Baptist Church, 120 Goulburn Street, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.² Hugh Herbert Price was Methodist. He died on 30 April 1953 at The Royal Hobart Hospital, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, at age 66 Hugh died in Hobart on the 30 April 1953. He died as a result of being crushed by a log on a barge. Arthur Reginald Priest and Anthony John Francis Brown have a common ancestor, Rachel Collier, whom they claim was an aboriginal. Arthur Reginald Priest has identified himself as a person of aboriginal descent all his life. His father, Arthur Edward Priest and his grandmother, Elsie Laura Priest (nee Price) told him from an early age that he had an aboriginal ancestor by the name of Rachel Collier. Elsie Laura Priest (Price) was Rachel Collier’s granddaughter.

Anthony John Francis Brown has identified himself as a person of aboriginal descent since he was about 18 years of age. At that time his cousin urged him to take his aboriginality seriously. Prior to that, he and his family used to joke about being aboriginal because his mother had dark skin. Mr. Brown’s grandmother was Violet Lillian Price, a sister of Elsie Laura Priest (Price) (Mr.Priest’s grandmother).

Mr. Priest gave evidence to the Tribunal that he has a good memory of his grandmother, Elsie Laura Priest (Price). He spoke to his grandmother from time to time. She not only told him about Rachel Collier but also about aboriginal customs, culture, how to hunt, find different foods in the bush and about natural bush medicines.His father reinforced those aboriginal values. His mother told him that she was “warned” just prior to her marriage to his father that she should know that she was marrying “a bloody abo”.

Mr. Priest has identified as an aboriginal in the community in th efollowing ways. He has been an active supporter for many years of ASSPA. He has for many years declared his aboriginality. He has a fishing licence of a type available only to aboriginals. He has relations from the same ancestral line who hold positions in ATSIC and the TAC.

Evidence was given by Bruce William Patmore that in about 1984 he met a woman by the name of Minnie Elizabeth Price who had married a brother of his great grandfather. Minnie Price was a sister of Elsie Laura Priest (Price) and Violet Lillian Price. Mr. Patmore told the Tribunal that Minnie Price had dark skin and was of distinctly aboriginal appearance. He said that Minnie Price was an impressive, assertive person. She said that she was an aborigine. She was open and confident about her aboriginality. Minnie Price died in September 1985. on 18 October 2002.

     Myra Price married Roy Anthony Fisk, son of Anthony Fisk and Gertrude Charlotte Elizabeth Morris, at Bermagui, New South Wales, Australia. Myra Price was also known as Myra Fisk. She was born circa 1921. She was the daughter of George James (Tom) Price and Ruby Charlotte Lehman.
